Episodes 4-6 of The Legend of Vox Machina season two each focuses on different characters. Episode four focuses on the twins, Vex and Vax, but is more focused on the changes that started in this episode. Episode five focuses on Keyleth and shows us more about her society. Episode six focuses on Scanlan and Grog. Grog’s is more of a throughline because of his new sword Craven Edge and how it affects him.
The throughline for Grog is interesting because as much as he fights against the sword it gains control over him if it gets even the slightest taste of blood. Each of these three episodes have Grog and his sword arguing about whether or not Grow will feed Craven Edge blood or not, with Grog trying to reason with it in his own way. That leads to one of the biggest things to happen at the end of the sixth episode but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.
All three of the episodes deal with vestiges and how much devastation the Chroma Conclave wrought even before they attacked Emon. That was shown in the fifth episode when the party is near the fire Ashari tribe, which leads her to complete part of her Aramenté which is a quest she has to complete to lead her tribe. We learn the dragon Thordak is the cause of the fire Ashari’s troubles.
Vax’s new powers and connection to the Matron of Ravens are gotten in episode four and are struggled with throughout all three episodes. I imagine that they’ll still be a source of Vax’s struggles going forward. These episodes end with the group being separated after several tragic events. I give these episodes of The Legend of Vox Machina 9 lockets out of 10.
