The GotG Holiday Special was something I was looking forward to since it was announced. I’m a huge fan of James Gunn and his love for comics and how that translates to his films. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the special, but I had a feeling that I would enjoy it.
The Holiday Special made me feel like I did when I would watch the old Rankin and Bass Christmas specials growing up. I don’t know if other people have had that response to this special, but I have seen positive reactions. I didn’t know anything about what was going to happen, but I knew that Kevin Bacon was a central part of the plot. I don’t want to spoil anything about the plot, so I’ll just leave it at that. I will say the addition of Cosmo the dog to the team is fun. That addition will probably add more to Vol. 3 when it comes out.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is a heartwarming forty-five minutes of superhero shenanigans. It fits the makeshift family theme that runs through all of the Guardians of the Galaxy stuff. I think this will be part of my holiday viewings going forward. It premiered on November 25th on Disney +. I give The GotG Holiday Special 9 inflatable elves out of 10.
