Andor episode five is called “The Axe Forgets” and the title is reference to how the Empire kills without care or even remembering who they were. Andor’s parts of the episode deal with the lead up to the heist as well as the crew learning of why he’s there. That happens because of Skeen, and it ends up bringing the two closer together rather than widening the rift. The Imperial Security Bureau hints at something bigger that the Rebellion is doing. Mon Mothma and her family feel out of place even if it shows how different each of the aspects of the beginning of the Rebellion are. I find Mothma’s husband to be a prick and want to squish his face.
“The Axe Forgets” definitely feels like the calm before the storm. I’m not entirely sure when the heist will happen, but I feel like the second half of the season will deal with the fallout of the heist. I do wonder what part Karn will play going forward since he seems to be obsessed with Andor. We do seemingly get the start of Andor believing in the cause in this episode, with us getting both Skeen and Gorn’s reasons for fighting the Empire and how each story affects him. I give “The Axe Forgets” 8 khyber crystal necklaces out of 10.
