I was disappointed when I wasn’t able to see The Snake Girl and the Silver-Haired Witch during the Chattanooga Film Festival this year. So, it came as a big surprise when the movie was added to Shudder. That being said I was not prepared for how weird the movie would be. This is going to be a shorter review, so I don’t accidentally spoil anything about the wild plot.
The movie was based on manga by Kazuo Umezu called Hebimusune to Hakuhatsuki. It was directed by Noriaki Yuasa based on a screenplay by Kimiyuki Hasegawa. Yachie Matsui, Sachiko Meguro, and Mayumi Takahashi star. The effects in the movie make it as wild as it is. If they weren’t as good as they are it would feel like a corny movie rather than just wild movie.
The Snake Girl and the Silver-Haired Witch is a wild Japanese movie. I think this would pair well with Hausu, with both of them being wild Japanese movies. I’m going to have to rewatch this with people so that I can experience it with others because I feel like it would be even more fun with people. I give The Snake Girl and the Silver-Haired Witch 9 dolls out of 10.
