Make Popular Movies is a fucking weird movie, but its my kind of weird. I was worried that I was going to have to pause the movie fifteen minutes in just so I could catch my breath I was laughing so hard. I had a feeling it was going to be a weird movie just from the initial poster I saw for the movie, but I was not prepared for it.
Bryan Connolly wrote and directed this masterpiece of awkward comedy. I got some real Adult Swim live action short vibes from a lot of the comedy in this movie. Not quite as weird as like Too Many Cooks but if it had taken a turn into that I wouldn’t have thought it was all that weird. John Gholson, Franny Harold, Nathaniel Hendricks, Carlos Larotta, Alex Walker, Emma Holder, Kyle Romero, and Katie Graham all make the movie with their performances. The weirdness of the comedy wouldn’t work without what they do.
Make Popular Movies is a movie that I want more people to see just so that we can talk about it. I think a lot of people will get the weirdness though just as many people won’t like it for the same reason. This might be one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in years. I give Make Popular Movies 10 Oscars out of 10.
