Episode five of the third season of The Boys is titled “The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies” and it seems to pull back on some of what they were doing this season. They do seem to be doubling down on the far-right leanings of some of the supes, which is seeping into other parts of the show. It’s keeping in line with what was started in the second season with Stormfront.
A lot of this episode is dealing with the ramifications of the final minutes of last episode. Kimiko and Frenchie are sidelined in the hospital after Kimiko has seemingly lost her powers. This does lead to a music number that is fun but surprising. M.M., Butcher, and Hughie have to deal with Soldier Boy being back in the State and him running amok. Starlight is dealing with what happened to her at the end of the last episode. A-Train seemingly learns that he made a mistake last episode when Blue Hawk injures several people including his brother. With the next episode being named “Herogasm” after the volume of the comic book series, I wonder how it will live up to its name.
“The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies” is an episode that sets up The Boys to go in some different places. I have no idea what’s going to happen in the next episodes. There were some fun cameos in this episode that I don’t want to spoil. They might be the most fun cameos of the season. I give “The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies” 8 vials of V24 out of 10.
