The Last Drive In with Joe Bob Briggs Season 4 Premiere

The Last Drive In has become one of the most fun times that a horror fan can have. I’ve decided that I’ll do simple overviews of the shows, but I’ll still call them reviews. The main thing that’ll be different is that I won’t be reviewing the movies shown. They will be talked about, but they won’t be the focus.

The first movie was Night of the Living Dead and it served as a love letter to horror hosts, both new and old. Joe Bob went into detail about how the movie came to be in the public domain. We got a special guest, and it was Svengoolie. That cemented the theme for the first movie. Darcy even cosplayed as Svengoolie. We even got a barrage of zombie jokes to end the first movie.

The second movie was Anthropophagus: The Grim Reaper and it served as a celebration of Job Bob himself. This movie was the first movie that Joe Bob had ever reviewed as a drive-in critic. He started by talking about the cuts that were made and how the version that he saw originally was different than what we would be seeing. We got a special guest for this movie as well and this time it was Honey the Mail Girl. We got a lot of fun interplay between the two Mail Girls and Joe Bob. We got a few fun jokes and Joe Bob was the target of rubber chicken barrages.

This was a great way to start the season. I can’t wait to see what else we have in store for the rest of the season. I don’t know how many episodes will be in the season, but I welcome as many as we can get. You can watch The Last Drive In live on Shudder and tweet along with the rest of the Mutant Fam. I’m going to give this episode (as well as all episodes getting at least the same) 10 bolo ties out of 10.
