WrestleMania 38 – Night 2

Night 2 of WrestleMania 38 was a fun night of wrestling. It had a lot to live up to after night one. One follow up from night one is that Rick Boogs was actually hurt in the opening match last night. It isn’t known how long he’ll actually be out, but hopefully he’ll have a speedy recovery and be back rocking out before the end of the year.

Night 2 started with the Raw Tag Team Championship triple threat match. It was a solid match even though I wasn’t invested in it all. The team of RK-Bro ended up retaining their titles against The Street Profits and Alpha Academy. All three teams got in their spots. After the match Chad Gable confronted Gable Steveson, who had been brought into the ring to celebrate with the two babyface teams. Chad Gable was suplexed and the group celebrated outside of the ring. The next match was the Bobby Lashley and Omos match, which felt like filler. Lashley deserves so much more than a match like this. Lashley won the match the first filler match of the night.

The next match was the Johnny Knoxville and Sami Zayn match. This was such a fun match. Sami put himself through hell in this comedy match. The Jackass crew got in on the action, including Wee Man body slamming Sami. The end of the match was even a gimmick with it involving a giant mousetrap. Johnny Knoxville pinned Sami Zayn while he was trapped in the mousetrap. The next match was another multiperson tag match with the fatal four-way tag match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. The teams of Queen Zelina and Carmella, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan, Natalya and Shayna Baszler, and Sasha Banks and Naomi all put in great performances in this match. Sasha Banks and Naomi ended up winning the match. Everyone got to have their moments in the match.

The next match was the Edge and AJ Styles match. This match was a slow burn match that was good but could have been so much more. I don’t know what kept it from reaching the greatness that it could have had. The match ended with Edge winning after AJ was distracted by Damien Priest, with Edge and Priest possibly starting a stable of their own. The next match was the one cut for time last night. The New Day and Sheamus and Ridge Holland had a bullshit match that had The New Day getting squashed. That’s all I will say about that match.

The next match was the Pat McAfee and Austin Theory match. It was really good, which shouldn’t be a surprise after seeing McAfee’s matches in NXT. The physicality that McAfee had in the match makes me wonder why he’s on the announcing desk rather than in the ring. Pat McAfee won but that led to him losing a short match against Mr. McMahon after he became upset the Theory lost. Stone Cold came out and hit stunners on everyone.

The main event was the unification match between Roman Reigns as the Universal Champion and Brock Lesnar as the WWE Champion. The was also a joke about it also being for the custody of Paul Heyman, but not really. This match was a hell of a match that had a lot of thrilling moments. Reigns ending up winning against Brock Lesnar after a close call in the other way. The show ended with Reigns holding both belts on the ramp.

Night 2 of WrestleMania 38 was a solid night of wrestling that had a lot to live up to after the last night. I think it had more moments than night one but some of those moments are low points. I think as a whole WrestleMania 38 was great, but I think night one had the bigger moments. Though that might be because night one had the one two punch of the Bianca win and the Cody return. Night two had more good matches, but only one outstanding match which was the main event. I will have a video talking about both nights on YouTube in the next day or so. I give Night 2 of WrestleMania 38 8 stars out of 10.
