Daredevil Season 2

I feel like I finished the rewatch of season 2 of Daredevil at just the right time. I finished it just before it was announced that all of the Marvel Netflix shows would be leaving Netflix. They’re leaving at the beginning of March, and that’s not enough to get through all of what I feel is needed to watch season 3. It hasn’t been announced where the shows will be headed but it would make sense for them to go to Hulu. That being said Daredevil season 2 fantastic.

Season 2 takes place at an undetermined amount of time after the end of season 1. The underworld was thrown into chaos, and this caused the introduction of one of the two new characters, The Punisher. The Punisher was played by Jon Bernthal, and he was so popular that he would get his own two season show. The characters of Daredevil and The Punisher have an interesting relationship, with them being incredibly similar except for one thing. The fact that The Punisher kills while Daredevil doesn’t is the main cause of drama. That isn’t the only drama that was caused by a new character.

Elektra Natchios was alluded to in the first season, but she was never actually mentioned. The way she tied into Matt Murdock’s background and how that actually came to be is revealed throughout the season. Elektra was played by Élodie Yung and she’s amazing in the role. Yung brings such a sinister energy to Elektra, and you’re terrified that she’ll lose control. The relationship between Elektra and Matt Murdock shows the main trouble with the double life of Murdock/Daredevil. The chaos that she brings into both lives of Matt Murdock is something way beyond that of any normal ex.

Elektra even tied into Stick which caused everything to tie into The Hand. This would also be the start of the overarching plot of the shows. The Hand is the villain for the first part of these shows ending with The Defenders. This sets up The Defenders almost completely, with just the first season of Iron Fist being the main source of set up.

Season 2 of Daredevil continued the fantastic story and set up the rest of these shows. I had planned on going through them in order, but I forgot that the first season of Jessica Jones came out before this season of Daredevil. With the future of these shows being in flux right now I’m waiting to see what happens. I hope it’s announced soon where they will come to rest. I give season 2 of Daredevil 9 Billy clubs out of 10.
