It’s a week into 2022 and I’m finally getting this sorted and out. I’ve had a hard time getting things sorted. I’ve watched so many movies and that’s been one of the biggest things. I’m not going to be doing a top list I’m just going to write about some with there being a list. I’m going to list video games, TV shows, and just media in general. The main thing is that it would be released in 2021, not just something I watched in 2021.
I want to start out by saying that the Chattanooga Film Festival was one of my favorite things from last year. I started my blog by covering it last year and as long as I can I will continue to cover it. I gained an appreciation for shorts because I was able to watch all of the ones featured. There are several movies that I watched that quickly became my favorite movies.
I started reading again last year and the only new book I read was The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix. I was lucky enough to catch his presentation about it at the Chattanooga Film Festival. That piqued my interest and I happened to grab it when it came out. I read it quickly and it’s a fun read, especially if you’re a fan of the slasher subgenre. I reviewed it after I read it.
When it comes to video games, I started playing less games while playing about the same amount. I’ve continued playing Destiny 2 the story has gotten more focused and the way the story is told is much better than it was previously. The worst thing is the way that the story has been in a lull as the next expansion was pushed back several months. Two new games that came out that I really enjoyed were Back 4 Blood and Aliens: Fireteam Elite. A remaster that came out that I played was The Mass Effect collections. The improvements made to the first Mass Effect was a welcome change. While I’ve basically barely touch the campaign, Halo: Infinite is a lot of fun. It feels the closest to classic Halo that the series has felt in a long time.
TV has been something that I really enjoyed. There were some really good animated shows. Both Invincible and Masters of the Universe: Revelation are amazing. Revelation is a continuation of the original series, and you can tell it was made with care. Invincible was a welcome surprise. The comic book of the same name that the series is based on has always been interesting to me. It does what The Boys did for live action for animation. The Marvel Disney+ series were all great. My personal favorites were WandaVision and Hawkeye, but I know that they aren’t the best of them. Chucky was a series that I was looking forward to as soon as it was announced. I was sadly not able to keep up with it from week to week, but I was able to watch it after it was added to Peacock. If you’re a fan of the Chucky franchise you will enjoy it greatly.
When it comes to movies, I watched so many. I’m going to list the movies that I really enjoyed. Jakob’s Wife, Nobody, Judas and the Black Messiah, Godzilla vs Kong, Mortal Kombat, Willie’s Wonderland, Fried Barry, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, Scenes from An Empty Church, Coming Home in the Dark, We’re All Going to The World’s Fair, Mister Limbo, Broadcast Signal Intrusion, Werewolves Within, Fear Street Trilogy, Blood Red Sky, The Suicide Squad, Candyman, Séance, Halloween Kills, V/H/S 94, The Harder They Fall, Bingo Hell, Nightmare Alley, The King’s Man, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Most of the movies that I watched before I started my blog I rewatched. There were so many good movies that these few were my favorites. That’s not even the movies that I watched for the first time last year.
