Holy shit, Copshop is a fantastic movie. I was able to go into it knowing pretty much nothing. I had seen a short trailer before a video on YouTube, but aside from that I knew nothing. Knowing nothing about the movie helps a lot. There’s a lot more to the movie than I would have thought from the short trailer and the cover.
Copshop was directed by Joe Carnahan. It was written by Kurt McLeod and Carnahan with story by Mark Williams and McLeod. I didn’t know who was involved in the movie going in. I was surprised when I saw Carnahan’s name in the credits. I’ve watched other movies Carnahan had directed but he’s also attached to the remake of The Raid that’s happening in the United States.
The cast is a lot of fun. I didn’t know most of the cast was in this before the start of the movies. Copshop stars Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, Alexis Louder, Toby Huss, Ryan O’Nan, and Kaiwi Lyman-Mersereau. Gerard Butler is incredibly intimidating in the movie. Toby Huss was a surprise for me. He was equal parts hilarious and terrifying in his role. Alexis Louder is someone I didn’t recognize, and I enjoyed her in the movie greatly. She deserves so many more roles because she holds her own in the movie.
Copshop is a crime action movie that has a little bit of siege film mixed in. I don’t want to say much about the plot. There’s a lot of action and mystery that helps draw you in. The stunt team did a fantastic job in the movie. Clinton Shorter did the music for the movie and the score is fantastic.
Copshop is a lot of fun. There’s not really much else I can say about the movie. This is one of the best movies from 2021 that I saw. I didn’t mean to start off 2022 with it, but that’s just a nice coincidence. I give Copshop 8 police duffel bags out of 10.
