It didn’t take me nearly as long to see Kingsman: The Golden Circle as it did the previous one. They raised the stakes in this movie, while not always something that works it did make it where The Golden Circle had a lot more big moments. One of the worst things about the movie is fact that one of the major reveals was spoiled in the first trailer. That’s really the biggest gripe that I have about the movie.
The Golden Circle was directed by Matthew Vaughn. It was written by Jane Goldman and Vaughn. Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons are still credited. Having the same creative team come back means that among other things it shares a visual style with the previous movie. Vaughn got to have a lot more fun on camera than the previous movie.
The cast of The Golden Circle is a lot of fun. The returning people are fun while the new people are just as fun. It stars Colin Firth, Julianna Moore, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges. The reveal of Colin Firth returning being spoiled in a trailer is one of the biggest shame. It would have been a huge moment that I think would have been a moment for fans of the series, especially in theaters. There’s another reveal that’s really goofy, and I won’t say anything else about it.
The Golden Circle picks up one year after the previous movie. Eggsy has taken over the Galahad codename since Harry’s demise. He’s also dealing with the relationship that he has with Princess Tilde. He’s worried about how posh her parents are and how different they are. There’s an attack on the Kingsman, which results in the death of all of the other agents. Merlin and Eggsy end up going to Kentucky, which results in them in them meeting up with the American counterpart to the Kingsman. They all discover who was behind the attack on Kingsman.
The stunt work is just amazing, that’s something that continued on from the previous movie. That along with the camerawork make The Golden Circle so much fun to watch. The use of CG is much more noticeable in the movie, but it isn’t bad because it’s used to do something that couldn’t be done practically. All of it works so well together that you can’t imagine it being done any other way. I want to mention the use of music in the movie and how fun it is. Some is diegetic and some isn’t, but either way it’s a lot of fun. The score by Henry Jackman and Matthew Margeson is fun. The music makes the movie have an epic feel when it needs to.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is such a fun spy movie. The prequel is coming out this week. I think it is already out when this is being published. Kingsman: The Golden Circle gets 7 Golden Circle tattoos out of 10.
