This block of shorts might be my favorite block of all. It is another block of 16 shorts and they are outstanding. They are Hold Music!, With Pleasure, Thin Blue Variety Show, Good Head, The Story of Dirk and Chip, Optic Nerve, Breaking Up for the Modern Girl, Still Together, My Dinner with Werner, Harmonia Solid, Out of Office, A Machine for Boredom, The Expected, Make a Wish, Flick, and Mr. Löveländ.
Thin Blue Variety Show is poignant and hilarious. I hope that more are made than go beyond the 80s.
Good Head was hilarious. I was laughing throughout the entire thing. As a fan of LPOTL I also enjoyed seeing Henry Zebrowski doing his thing.
The Story of Dirk and Chip was fantastic. I view it like Dune but with opossums. I would love to see more of the world and characters.
Still Together was amazing. It was like Mannequin but gender swapped, and I say that as someone who loved the Mannequin movies growing up. Only it’s a bit morbid, which I dig.
My Dinner with Werner had me almost in tears for most of its length. Just kind of knowing how the stories of Werner Herzog are this short is fantastic.
I’ve only highlighted a few of the shorts. I want all of these to get a lot of attention. So much that their creators can do more things. I seemingly can’t express how much I loved all of these shorts.
